Jonesboro Police K9 Gabo didn't hesitate when he was needed to bring to an end an hours-long standoff with an armed suspect, but his devotion to his job left him fighting for his life after being shot five times. What could have been a tragedy wound up a miracle, as Gabo walked away from the shooting, thanks to his bulletproof vest, which was provided by nonprofit Vested Interest in K9s. Months later, he and Sandy Marcal, the woman behind the nonprofit, finally got to meet.

Um so let’s see. It’s a Kevlar vest, like the ones humans wear. It’s Kevlar, so it stops bullets, and thus kept the bullet from penetrating the dogs body.
